Display connected to a disabled video connector

However before, under Windows 10, if I adjust the input to the monitor (say, to watch TV while a procedure is running, or turn it off to save power), the video output from my computer freezes.

You watching: Display connected to a disabled video connector

For instance, I can move the mouse over a switch which alters shade while being displayed, but it I execute the very same point while the monitor is off, the video output isn"t updated (the color of the button stays the same.)

The totality allude of the software application is to alert me (by means of audio) so that I don"t have to have actually the video on.

Preferably

1) I"d favor to tell Windows to store doing what it"s doing even if I"m not watching. (I don"t watch water boil, either, ya know?)

Alternatively:

1) Buy a new/old video card via a DVI output (brand-new computer does not have actually it).

2) Get rid of Windows 10, regain Windows 7

3) Get rid of Windows, Get Linux

Suggestions? Solutions?
